TREATMENT: SOLUTION FOCUSED, BRIEF & EFFECTIVE
Post Traumatic Stress or Acute Stress are neurobiological responses to experiencing or witnessing traumatic events. If you find yourself experiencing symptoms such as: hyper-arousal (feeling constantly on alert), insomnia, nightmares, avoiding activities you previously enjoyed, and/or feeling distant or cut off from people; know that these symptoms can be alleviated.
Using trauma focused therapies such as Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) or Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), we essentially reprogram traumatic memories to decrease or eliminate the emotional charge they hold. In this process, known as memory reconsolidation, we essentially keep the knowledge or insight obtained from an event (if applicable) and lose the pain .
