WHAT IS ACCELERATED RESOLUTION THERAPY (ART)?

Accelerated Resolution Therapy

As the name suggests, Accelerated Resolution Therapy works more rapidly than other forms of therapy.  A typical course of ART includes one to five sessions. Clients often feel considerably better after only one appointment but should finish the prescribed course of treatment.  The secret to ART's success is that it combines the most effective modalities of therapy including EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

The Process

During ART sessions, clients recall traumatic events while the therapist helps them quickly move the distressing sensations out of the body, recategorizing these memories. After three to five sessions, clients no longer feel intense distress when they recall these memories. Furthermore, the memories no longer cause disruptive symptoms such as panic attacks or patterns of negative thoughts in present situations.

The Washington Post

"Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing is a common, but not well-understood, approach to treating trauma-related conditions and disturbing life experiences."
